I believe true wellness comes from living in intention with ourselves, our bodies and our health; in connection with our community, our ancestors, peers, neighbors, and friends; communing with and honoring the land which bears our food and our medicine, the water and air within us and around us.

-Dr. Rachel Low

I’m Dr. Rachel Low (she/her), and this is what health means to me. This idea of communing is at the core of how I approach health and healing as a naturopathic doctor. Naturopathic medicine is more than just a way to treat disease, but a philosophy that permeates all aspects of life.

Rachel oversees all clinical programming and works directly with guests to provide naturopathic care during their retreat experience

Dr. Rachel Low is a Massachusetts & Connecticut licensed naturopathic doctor. She earned her doctorate in naturopathic medicine from the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland Oregon in 2019. Upon completing her degree, she joined a busy primary care practice where she worked for a year before relocating to the Hudson Valley and starting her own private practice, now based in Great Barrington, MA. She has completed advanced training in integrative fertility, hormone health and menopause, areas that continue to be a large focus within her practice in addition to gut health, mental/emotional wellness, and general health. Her approach is rooted firmly in the naturopathic principles of addressing the root cause, often employing comprehensive functional lab assessments in the process, as well as treating the whole person, putting together all the pieces of the puzzle to go beyond symptom management and facilitate restorative healing. She uses clinical nutrition, herbal medicine, nutraceuticals and lifestyle counseling to build comprehensive, individualized treatment plans that are safe, evidence-based and effective.

Dr. Fred Lisanti (he/him) has been in private practice since 2004. He is a Massachusetts licensed naturopathic physician and acupuncturist and a graduate of the six year dual degree curriculum at the National University of Natural Medicine (NUNM) in Portland, OR, the oldest naturopathic university in North America.

Dr. Lisanti serves as the founder and guiding force behind Mountain Healing Sanctuary and is not a practicing naturopathic clinician at the retreat. He does offer acupuncture when available

Here, he obtained a doctorate in naturopathic medicine and a masters of science degree in Chinese medicine. His studies also included time spent in Amazonian Ecuador working closely with regional ethnobotanists and local shamans on botanical medicine and traditional healing methods. Dr. Lisanti is also trained in clinical hypnosis and nlp (neuro-linguistic programming). In addition, bringing naturopathic medicine to all communities, Dr. Lisanti offered international healthcare relief for tsunami victims in India and domestic service for underprivileged rural communities in the Pacific Northwest. Dr. Lisanti uses an eclectic combination of naturopathic medicine, acupuncture, hypnosis, bodywork, movement, and lifestyle counseling to tap into each individual’s full potential for optimal health

In his spare time, Dr. Lisanti’s enjoys practicing what he preaches. All things movement; from biking, swimming, running, and skiing fill up the seasons. An avid gardener, he has curated a landscape dedicated to native and edible plants at the sanctuary. His days are spent stewarding the land and forest around it with his two beautiful daughters Sofi and Zoe and soulmate, wife Tammi.
